July 2003:
Several bills in Congress seek to legislate the Bush Administration's so-called "Healthy Forests Initiative," opening up the National Forests to increased commercial timber extraction in backcountry wildlands under the guise of hazardous fuels reduction while neglecting to target legitimate projects near communities at-risk from wildfire. Posted our "Scoping Comments" addressing the Herger-Feinstein Quincy Library Group Forest Recovery Act EIS (January 1999) in the Citizen Action section. Will begin posting our archive of NEPA comment letters and administrative appeals of past projects to help citizens comment on and/or appeal new projects.
